Patreon Rewards Going Up and Clarifications

Hi all! I just wanted to let you know that I'm putting up the Patreon rewards tonight. The Bonus Gallery is already up for the $10 patrons. The full gallery is getting uploaded in 3 parts because Patreon doesn't allow for large donations. By the time you read this it is probably up.

I've been finishing up work at one of my part time jobs and will be ready to go next month. My root canal was moved back to the 2nd of February, much to my chagrin, so I'll be taking a bit of time off at that time.

For my users from the United Kingdom, I do want to clarify that I was using the American Bi-Monthly, that is, every other month, not the English twice-a-month definition. You should see a new release by March 1st with fixed combat and various improvements and then a complete new chapter by May 1st. This is provided I don't hit the amount I need for monthly releases. If I do there will be a new chapter at the 1st of every month until Overwhored is finished.

Status Update - Bi-Monthly release unlocked!

A special greeting to all of my fans and contributors on Patreon! Allow me to say that you all have made bi-monthly releases a possibility and I am deeply moved by your show of support. At the first of next month I'll be ready to quit one of my part-time jobs and work on Overwhored instead. Just keep in mind the total has to stay above $400 a month or I'll have to go back to my other job.

This month hasn't been too productive, but for good reason. I'm still working and thanks to the generosity of an anonymous fan, I have a new computer! It's a fantastic one, I've never owned anything this nice. It took me some time to find the time to put it together and get everything I needed installed.

This means I can record my own footage for the commercial I was putting together. Though not this week, sadly. Tomorrow I have a root canal scheduled - something that'll let me return to something approaching sanity. I haven't had any real time to play video games or goof off.

That said I'm not just looking at Overwhored. I'm looking at projects to work on after this game is done. In spite of being Version 0.5, there are only two real heroine chapters left, maybe three total releases. The rest will just be polish and rewrites. The game WILL be done within this year. If I hit the $800 milestone it could be finished in just a few months!

So what happens after Overwhored? Well, that's been something I've been thinking about quite a bit. I always had two sequels planned. Overwhored: Fall From Heaven, which will be an expansion to the current game, and Overwhored II featuring the Overmind's first daughter as a protagonist.

If there's one thing I've learned during the course of my development, however, it's that there's quite a few other people out there working on things. I'm learning who is reliable, who delivers quality, who delivers on time.

For the immediate future it means there'll be another game getting developed. A visual novel style game focused on the exploration of a brainwashed office complex. This will be a joint project between myself and NoMoshing of Badkitty Games - but just as importantly, it'll be a joint venture of our teams.

This is going to be an experiment as much as anything. It won't halt production of other stuff, and it'll be short and simple. But if it succeeds? Well - you could end up looking at the birth of a studio. One of the first real adult game development studios in the west. Love or hate Harem Collector and Overwhored it's clear that combining our talents will let us do bigger, better stuff than we could alone.

This sort of thing is only possible because of the support you've been showing our projects. That said I'm not interested in leaping in fully without testing the waters first. Whether or not we can make the western Sengoku Rance someday depends on our infrastructure and support. How can we distribute, how can we draw up contracts, how can we cover legal concerns, etc. But the more support we get the more we can actually look at these things and work towards the day when we can construct a real studio.

As a final, unrelated note I'd like to give a special thanks to my girlfriend for being so supportive and kind. You're the best part of my life, and I love you deeply.

EDIT:
Sometime after I drafted this I got an e-mail requesting I talk about another game developer.

They make adult games as well, and they do have a Patreon! I have to say that the sprite work is exceptionally polished. They're wanting support, so take a look for yourself and see what they've got. If you like it please do support them.

Bugfix Three

The latest bugfix is in. I wasn't able to get everything in due to work, but it covers a boatload of little stuff.

Same link as always.

This should be the last link before the next biggish release which'll include the cowgirl farm, battle scene, and so on.

Thanks a bunch for all the support on Patreon! I really need to make a $20 reward tier. Feel free to suggest some ideas below. I'll e-mail the rewards you earned at the end of the month.

Also Sleepymaid is streaming a picture for the project to go in the next big release. Watch along!

EDIT: And the stream is done with Overwhored stuff but still going. Thanks to those of you that stopped by!

Patreon Stuff

Hi all! Well, I've been strongly considering what to do about Patreon, and I have some ideas.

Overwhored's development isn't going to last too much longer. You have two chapters remaining. However, I have planned subsequent games.

The question is whether I can work on this stuff quickly or slowly. Finishing the Bilbao section takes top priority and won't take too long to finish. Barring significant difficulties with the army battle scene you'll get to see that then.

The Patreon campaign is doing significantly well. It's already over $100, and that's no mean feat! I'm extremely grateful to all of you for pushing it up that far even before I had any rewards set up.

So what I'm going to do now is lay out what will happen.

$400: I can afford to drop one of my two part time jobs and work on this more. Mindwipe has promised to do two pictures a month, so I could push out about a release every-other month like this.

$600: Sleepymaid has promised to do about four pictures a month. Normally the price is double the normal picture costs and this would be $800, but since there's already $50 reserved toward every picture I'd only need this for Overwhored. Right now I'm paying out-of-pocket from "my" share of the extra donations to fund it. It would still be every other month but you'd get a lot more pics.

$800: At this rate I could drop both part time jobs and work on the game instead (though I'd still have my full time job). You could get monthly releases at this pace.

$1000: In the unlikely event I get this much I'll be putting money towards future games. I have two sequels planned; Overwhored: Fall from Heaven (an expansion) and Overwhored II.

More than $1000: I'll consider this tier if we even come close to getting there.

$1: Access to betas and a name in the credits.

At $5 or above, I can link people to a gallery of all artwork completed for the game including stuff that was not included but finished and concept sketches.

I've also spoken with Sleepymaid and Mindwipe. I can offer access to a gallery of bonus sketches done just for donators at $10 or above. They aren't made yet, mind, but I'll see about getting one up before the end of the month.

I'm considering higher tier rewards at this time. Cameos are one option, though they'd be subject to my approval. Feel free to suggest some.

Paypal donations will, from now on, be judged on a monthly basis similar to the Patreon campaign. Not everyone loves the Paypal option, not everyone loves the Patreon option. This will give both types an option to donate.

Thank you all so much for the support I've gotten so far! It's really quite wonderful!

Overwhored Ver 0.5 Bugfix 1

A new release is up that fixes all the bugs mentioned prior to about 9 am my time. Because it takes a LONG time to put one up things mentioned after that time haven't gone in yet. In a few days I'll put up another that fixes all the little things you all can find. Hopefully this should cover all the game-breakers and the next bugfix will let me put in a lot of polish and get rid of the rough edges.

Remaking a game in an entirely new system and then rebuilding the entire database is no simple task when the game is as big as Overwhored. I sincerely appreciate the patience you all have shown.

The link is the same as before.

Overwhored Ver. 0.5 is here!

Download it! Enjoy it!

http://www.badkittygames.net/games/ow/

As always the game is completely free.

In other news, the Patreon is now up! It's kinda sparse at the moment, but I'll fill it in in the next few days.

Remember to report any bugs you find! I tried to stomp them out, but in something this big there will often be a few.

Finally I really need game footage of this version of the game so I can finish a trailer to put up on youtube. I've gotten a bit of the old versions. E-mail me if you can record something. Any varied activity will do. I'll edit everything.

Now enjoy!

EDIT:
I forgot to mention the new controls!
